I'm Dr. Christa Reed Kruger, Naturopathic Doctor and founder of the Orangeville Naturopathic Health Clinic.  I've created this 14 Day Winter Wellness Detox for you, because I've notice that so many people are feeling stuck, or mention their experience with cravings, or don't know where to start.

Oftentimes, our celebrations include sugar consumption - from Thanksgiving pies, to Halloween candy, to holiday baking, New Years' parties, Valentine's & Easter chocolates... not to mention passing through virtually every checkout counter surrounded by packaged sweets.  Scheduling a break from these pressures can help to reset your routines.

I believe that good health starts with a solid foundation.  Through simple and nourishing meals, I would love to help you shift the way you think about food, the way you feel overall and also change your health from the inside out.  My clinical experience has shown that a detox can dramatically help you to accomplish these goals.  By simplifying your meals, and nourishing your body, you can break the cycle of poor eating habits.  Even more importantly, you can begin to understand the signs your body is giving you as you learn to connect with your own intuition.

​This approach is not another diet.  This is a whole foods lifestyle plan to address the foundations of your health.

What is the difference between a diet and a detox?

In a diet, you find yourself trying to count every calorie or macronutrient you eat, which understandably causes you to become frustrated and give up.  At the end of the day, you find yourself hungry and lethargic or frustrated.  Most diets are about restriction.  Some even create harmful relationships with food because of the feeling of deprivation.  This 14-Day Winter Wellness Detox isn’t about starving your body, fasting, juicing, eating wacky things (although there may be some novel ingredients for you to try), or taking lots of supplements, even though those strategies can have their own unique place.   My hope for you is to build a healthy relationship with whole, unprocessed foods that serve your body with the nutrients it needs to thrive, while reducing the foods that are causing inflammation, extra weight, energy crashes and digestive upset.  I'd like to help you feel confident, vibrant and renewed through your food - the fuel for your engine.

Did you know that hidden food sensitivities are a cause of symptoms?
Unlike food allergies, food sensitivities often go undiagnosed because they don’t always produce a clear and immediate reaction.  Sensitivities can even take days to show up, making them difficult to determine without skilled interpretation.  When you eat foods you are sensitive to, it creates inflammation in your body.  Inflammation can be tiring, so that you end up looking for sugar to give you quick energy.  Inflammation can also lead to nutrient depletions, so cravings can be used as signals that you are missing something from your diet.  Other symptoms could be acne, rashes, congestion, bloating or headaches, to name a few - our job is to accurately decode these messages.

I created this Winter Wellness Detox for several reasons:

  1. Life gets in the way of a healthy and nutritious lifestyle.  It’s easy to fall back into old habits, and we are now seeing the consequences of a society that has less than optimal health.
  2. Even though I believe in simple and gentle cleanses, the process can be tough to do on your own. This program is designed to give you the support you need as you go through the process in a guided format.  I want to share tips I have learned to simplify the process for you.
  3. Learn how to effectively use a detox to create lasting changes by connecting what you eat with how you feel.​

​But of course, if you like these things, you're more than welcome to use them!  You will need to do some prep work to stay on track and limit temptation, but your success will be well worth the efforts.

Frequently Asked Questions


Will I be hungry on the detox?

You may experience slight hunger the first two days of the program as your body adjusts, but you can always add in a snack from the meal plans I have created for you. The meal plans are packed with amazing and delicious recipes that will likely become favourites, even after the detox.

Can this detox accommodate dietary restrictions?

​The recipes themselves are gluten free, dairy free, and sugar free, as these are common inflammatory foods.  Eggs, grains, legumes (beans, lentils), and nightshades (potatoes, tomatoes, peppers) are included in some recipes, but enough options are given for meal ideas that you may certainly stay away from them, if needed.  Other substitutions are possible and encouraged as well, which is why the ongoing support is crucial to the program.  There are also vegetarian and paleo options available.  Overall the challenge is based on a whole foods, plant-based model of eating.  ​I have given you tips to help you prep and simplify the detox process.

Will I like the recipes?

You may not be an adventurous eater, but that often comes from having a repetitive, sugary or salty diet.  Your taste buds will adjust within a few days of the Detox and once the two weeks is over, you will be surprised at how unappealing your old foods have become.  The meal plan will help you to take the thinking out of the process, but if you prefer you can simply go freestyle with the list of recommended foods provided - it's up to you :)
