Naturopathic Medicine
What is Naturopathic Medicine?
Naturopathic Medicine is a holistic form of health care that views each part of the body as being connected. Your symptoms are considered your body's way of demanding attention, however, Naturopaths strive to determine the root cause of your health concerns as well as trying to prevent new issues from occurring. Natural therapies are used in order to support the body's current state of health and stimulate healing. Ultimately, Naturopathic Medicine will help you to feel better because your body will be functioning at its best.
Naturopathic Medicine is different from traditional forms of health care in Ontario. Visits with your ND are long enough for you to fully discuss your health concerns in a caring environment. Not only will you feel understood, but you will also learn how the body functions and discover how you've gotten to your current state of health. Naturopathic Medicine recognizes that each person has his or her own unique health experience. Good health does not come without time and effort, but your ND will help you get there - so you can get on with living your life in balance.
Who is a Naturopathic Doctor?
Naturopathic Doctors (NDs) are board certified, regulated primary health care practitioners. This means that after undertaking undergraduate studies, NDs complete four years of naturopathic medical training followed by rigorous North American and Provincial licensing examinations, as well as regular continuing education courses.

Your ND is a part of your health team, and gives educated advice towards your best possible treatment options. An individualized treatment plan will layout a way to address your symptoms using scientifically-based natural therapies, and also strives to get to the root of what caused the symptoms initially. Ultimately, decisions about your health are left up to you. NDs strive to help you on your path to wellness, but the goal is to get your body to work at its best.
Who sees a Naturopathic Doctor?
Anyone who is interested in taking charge of their own body and becoming their own health advocate. Many patients are those that feel awful but haven't found any explanation for their symptoms. Others, are tired of medication side effects. Ideal patients are those that wish to prevent disease progression and are willing to make changes to feel better.
